Nonanal Sensor Fabrication Using Aldol Condensation Reaction Inside Alkali-Resistant Porous Glass

Monitoring the gases released during breathing or via skin has gained significance towards diagnosing diseases. In this study, a sensor chip capable of detecting nonanal gas, which is known to be marker lung cancer, was developed. The gas detection agent used vanillin, underwent aldol condensation with in presence basic catalyst, resulting formation an unsaturated aldehyde. Porous glass as reaction field carry agent. Alkali-resistant porous chosen because conventional glasses show low durabilities under conditions, they primarily consist SiO 2 . Nonanal can detected through changes absorption spectrum sensor. An accumulate-type exhibited linear relationship between degree at 470 nm and concentration 60 ppb-1.3 ppm range. Therefore, biological effective for early diagnosis alkali-resistant higher change than chip.
